Key Figures

There are many people who were important to the development and spread of electric vehicles. Here are four of the most important:

#1 - William Morrison

William Morrison invented the first working electric vehicle in the US, a carriage. People begin seeing the various opportunities electric cars present to the world. Although his creation and its modern versions may look very different, they are, in the end, very different. Look below for a comparison of electric vehicles then and now!

Info about him: He was born in Scotland in 1855, and died in California in 1927. He had two wives. He is not to be confused with the dentist who created the cotton candy machine who has the same name as him.

#2 - Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning

Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded Tesla Motors. Martin Eberhard became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Marc Tarpenning became the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Later on, Elon Musk became the largest shareholder of Tesla and the chairman of the board of directors. He eventually got Martin Eberhard to step down from his role and Musk became the new CEO. He is still holding that position today.

#3 - Elon Musk

Elon Musk is the CEO of various companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company. As of now, Musk is the richest man in the world. He is a big reason electric cars are so popular today.
